Beginning of a new era (nah, just a semester)

By Calvin
Holiday.....How can one describe it at all.... Honestly, there is no way to describe it (for me). However, there is one thing I am certain off: I had a good time. Why the weird face, if sometimes things are indescribable, that does not mean that you cannot tell how you fell. Confused? So am I......

Enough with confusion though, holiday has offically ended for me. Now, its back to slaving (too strong? you don't what you are talking about) on countless books, publications, and journals to get thru the entire semester. you know what? I have no idea what am I on about. So, lets make this short

  1. holiday has ended
  2. semester starts as of today
  3. plenty of red tapes to deal with
  4. plenty of assignment to come
  5. plenty of preparation needed for the exams
  6. rush to get a number of desired items (dont think differently now!)
  7. and last but not the least continue to post here...........

If you are wondering about my next and (maybe) last post of the a change of (desktop) view series. Do not worry, it will show up ..... eventually. I just need some time to get it right...

til then, au revoir........

A change of (desktop) view

By Calvin
Ah, I am almost at the end of the road for this series of post. Why?

Well, for a good reason, I have ALMOST cover everything that I personally use for this series (what series?)

The few last bits are coming soon...I think. Here is one of the last bits

Don' worry now, if you think this is going to be a long post. My answer is no. Why? (again with the why...) Because someone else has already explain it better than i can. Besides, if I was to explain to you, it would meant stealing their stuff, since I learned from them

Oh, I forgot to mention that this is another of those third-party software..and a good one too....you'll see. The name of the software is called Windowblinds, created by Stardock INC.

Here is the explaination

The words does not realy tells you much...but the screenshots are insanely (my opinion!) to behold at.

If you wondering if you have to pay to use it, the answer is no. Even though there is a price tag on it, you can still continue to use it indefinitely.

Just to give you an idea of how would it look, when i decide to use the windows vista style.

I opts for a dark theme with a touch of sci-fi.I even change the color of the winamp to match everything...

Well, I think I manage to keep this post short enough. Wait for the last one...(Still thinking about it)

till then, au revoir

Its been a long while

By Calvin
WAH!!

I may remember something but as usual I always forget them....

If you are wondering why I have post anything for..let say a week? The answer is realy simple: I have been out and about. Where? you might ask.... Well I have just been hanging out with some of my (new) friends... (wha?) Its a long story.

I am still thinking of what to post....and what about the future..(semester is starting up again)...might not have anytime to post.

Then again, as one of my old pal used to say, you are never to busy to post something. Maybe he is right.

ARGH! I am thinking too many things in one go....

Till then, au revoir

Small Post: how to "sort" the program menu

By Calvin
Apparently, there is another way of sorting out the program menu without going thru the registry (editor) . This is not something i found out by myself, merely stuble upon someone else's work.

So, here is the link.

A change of (desktop) view

By Calvin
Heh, sorry this took too long (that is if you even notice) but I was exploring the net wilderness to search for a certain something (related to this posting, of course). Unfortunately, I could not find that bloody thing... oh well the post must go on anyway.

Changing the logon is relatively easy (check previous post), changing the looks (or colour) of the taskbar is even easier than the logon stuff. Now follow this steps properly.

  1. right click at any blank space on the desktop.
  2. go to properties.
  3. go to the appearance tab.
  4. ignore the the display box there are and go straight to the scroll lists (d0n't remember actual name)
  5. go to colour scheme nad choose any of the colour (besides, the default one)
Here is the before and after thingy:

Before

After, or

the other effect!?

this is as simple as it gets....However there is another method. This method is actually a more of an official release by microsoft. Remember that previously mention stuff at the beginning, this is what is it all about. recently visiting microsoft site yield no result and some of the external links seem to be not working...I wonder?Anyway, here is how that stuff, royale looks like on a taskbar:

Some may think that this may not look as cool as the silver one, but it does its job all the same. In short, royale, as it is known as, allow one to deviate from the usual looks. Which is good, at some point, annoy you to the very brink of madness (I snaped once!).

Now I cannot supply the link but I still have the installation file. If you want it, just leave your email here and you will receive it soon.

I will also upload the file to file server (Hejime you know what does this means) for those who have access to it

Phew, that was long one...I swear this is even longer than the other posting ...... which is funny.....I just said that it is very easy.....nevermind that!

till then, au revoir

Back from no where....I think

By Calvin
Whew, just came back from a little family trip......In short, plenty of scenic view, stuff and not to mention animals too...What the heck, I am no good at explaining stuffs, so I have post up a photo gallery, you (readers) should note that the photos are placed in chronological order so you wont get confuse...

there will be some part of the photos are actually from last years trip as the (digital) camera run o ut of memory. Besides, the weather was not prefect for any photo-taking

Ah, I forgot to mention something important: this trip is about traveling the mid-southern part of Western Australia (Always keep the important bit to the last so people will continue to read to find out....MUHAHAHAHA...what a genius.......)

here is the gallery
or you can just click on the flickr badge on the sidebar. Do not, I am still uploading photo at the time of this posting, so bear with me will ya!?

till then, au revoir

Untitled.....really!

By Calvin
Its being a week since I post something here... If anyone remember I promise (maybe regreting now) to post at least once a week...so here I am. I dont really know what to post right now but its best to keep an update on things happening (for me) in the real world.

I have being out and about, its that simple. To be more precise, I have being reconnecting with a few lost contact/friends (during the last semester) and enjoying life outside the house (boy doesn't this makes you wonder?). Right now I just fell like babbling all the way thru but that is not me at all. So, this would bring us back to why the hell is this post about?

.....seriously, I have no idea at all....WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH ME?!

Oh yeah, just remember. I will continue to post a few more stuff on changing desktop looks, views, feels, which ever you are comfortable using.

Till then, au revoir ........

A Change of (Desktop) View

By Calvin
There are two types of people, those who likes looking at the same desktop everyday, and those who always likes a different (or break from the norm) desktop view. I happen to the latter. I spend alot of time in front of the computer (funny, you might ask, then why there is so little post here?). I spend alot outside the house (at university) and at home doing all kinds of stuff. Of course, one cannot just change how a desktop look (or feel) at any workplace (unless its your own laptop).

So, I have decide to change how my home desktop looks. First thing on my list is the logon screen. The logon screen is probably the first most boring you would see (to me, but some consider that boot screen could do with a change). So a typical logon screen would look like this:

You want a diffrent look, you can go around snooping in those crazy maze of windows folder or you can do it the easy way. The easy way I speak of is the use of a third-party software. Now, before you grumble about advertising for them, it not the purpose, it just that the software is FREE! Yes its free, so stop grumbling. The software is logon studio by Stardock (just click on the name to get to the site!).

Once download, install and launch, you would notice that the interface is fairly straight-forward. Also, you would notice that there are not many option (or skin) to choose from. So, just head on the the logon gallery and choose from over 1000+ skins to your heart's content. Once you choose one that you like and download it, you can just simply extract the file to the which ever place you choose to intall the software earlier.

If you have the logon studio, don't forget to refresh or you would not see you skin on the list. So, just select the Skin and click on apply.....and you are done!

Here is just two example to view at:

Phew that was long-winded...
till then, au revoir

The Firefox cheat sheet - Lifehacker

By Calvin
some may notice that i have this little firefox button on the sidebar....coz i am a firefox user myself(so obvious!). Well, I used it for many daily surfing, even got a portable version in my thumbdrive! Don't ask me why the switch, it just happen out of nowhere (no, thanks to my cousin!)

Another good reason for using firefox is the fact the staff handling blogger use it, don't where I hear it, but its true. Anyway, this cheat sheet is a list of keyboard shortcuts for firefox. this sheet come useful for any user, ecspeacially for new user and lazy mouse user.

New Look...New (up-to-date) content?....Maybe

By Calvin
It has been a while since I last posted soemthing. If there is anyone out there whoever read this blog, you might notice that this the lastest post that you can get. Also , you might notice the change in the template/layout

Anyway, I am here not talk about the reasons for been so inactive (dormant would be the better word). Rather, I am here struggling to post something (how pathetic can this go?....joking..), so I came up with something. Each week, I'll try to post soemthing. Yes, each week, but if I can help maybe more than that (another empty promise?). Whatever the post may be, its still a post.

Again, some (if anyone) may ask the question why all the fuss? Well, I am strifing to become a better person and what better ways than to start small. The smallest step that I could possibly think of now is : try to post something here. Why here (again with the question...stop that already!)? This is just one of the many small steps I am making and I don't wish tell you all my small steps at all. So, you and I will leave the matter at rest and never to speakof it again (unless you see no weekly post, do clink me).

Oh yeah, some of you might this layout is exactly the same resemble my good friend's layout as well. The only diffrence was the colour.... (what a disaster!). So, before you lots go on grumbling about creative imitation, I have and continue to change the looks/layout/template. I like to have a more personal touch to it and of course a little hard work does bring some satisfaction. So don't go telling me problem of copyright stuff. However some advise as to change the looks would be more than welcome.

Till then, au revoir

its being a long time.......4

By Calvin
It has been a while since i post something... Indeed being busy aand all.....
The first week of university here in perth is just over. I must confess that the past week was a jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, and yet amazing week.

First of all, I never thought i would meet up some of my old pals from last semester and the semester before that.. well you'll get the drift. but it was not just old pals that i manage to meet up with, i managed to make one or two new friends (seriously, that was all). i can assure you there is nothing fanciful going on..(I KNOW WHAT ARE YOU THINK SO QUIT IT)

Secondly, after attending lectures, tutorials and the lot......I just reliaze how much brain damage or whatever you call it can happen during the three month holiday.....looks like its time to pack my things and move to the library to stay....joking.....(actually, I was thinking of camping out in the fields..)

Third...... what is CRITICAL THINKING? some of us use it unknowingly, some do know what are they doing but what importance does it hold for us.....(I am still trying to figure it out even after a lengthy explaination by my lecturer)..

You may have notice the half done work here (look at this post), so I hope you still come back as I will explain things clearer (once i reorganize life)

Till then, au revoir

What'so funny... honestly?!

By Calvin
Here we are again....as you can see the layout is change. It's not much, yet changes are needed...
Weird.... the world seem to be full of changes....
Changes in the world climate
Changes in technological trend
Changes in the tradiotion is once held
Changes in the way people accomplished their... stuff
Changes in the way we live

There are just everywhere....
~yawn~ Somestimes changes makes life better or like hell
And I, for one, am tired of this changes....It just never stop!
I know, I know we can never grow without changes...
But, all this changes really necessary?
In any case readers(yes you) are free to debate that in the comment section...
till again.....au revoir
