A Change of (Desktop) View

By Calvin
There are two types of people, those who likes looking at the same desktop everyday, and those who always likes a different (or break from the norm) desktop view. I happen to the latter. I spend alot of time in front of the computer (funny, you might ask, then why there is so little post here?). I spend alot outside the house (at university) and at home doing all kinds of stuff. Of course, one cannot just change how a desktop look (or feel) at any workplace (unless its your own laptop).

So, I have decide to change how my home desktop looks. First thing on my list is the logon screen. The logon screen is probably the first most boring you would see (to me, but some consider that boot screen could do with a change). So a typical logon screen would look like this:

You want a diffrent look, you can go around snooping in those crazy maze of windows folder or you can do it the easy way. The easy way I speak of is the use of a third-party software. Now, before you grumble about advertising for them, it not the purpose, it just that the software is FREE! Yes its free, so stop grumbling. The software is logon studio by Stardock (just click on the name to get to the site!).

Once download, install and launch, you would notice that the interface is fairly straight-forward. Also, you would notice that there are not many option (or skin) to choose from. So, just head on the the logon gallery and choose from over 1000+ skins to your heart's content. Once you choose one that you like and download it, you can just simply extract the file to the which ever place you choose to intall the software earlier.

If you have the logon studio, don't forget to refresh or you would not see you skin on the list. So, just select the Skin and click on apply.....and you are done!

Here is just two example to view at:

Phew that was long-winded...
till then, au revoir
